Here are some terms you may run into with EFI and FWD Mopars like the Dynasty. I'm sure I've left a lot out. Whenever I think of one, I add it here. Many I use without thinking about it.
A604- the 4-speed, computer-assist FWD Mopar tranny, also same as 41TE. Used in transverse engines
A606- the 4-speed, computer-assist FWD Mopar tranny, also same as 42LE. Used in longitudal engines (like the 3.5).
ABS- anti lock brake system
AC- Air Conditioning
AIS- This is the valve/motor which controls how much air enters the engine via the TB when the car is at idle and the TB is closed.
A/F- Air/fuel ratio.
AWD- All Wheel Drive
BCU- Body Computer Unit- the computer which controls your options.
CPU- Central Processing Unit
ECU- Electronic Control Unit- an other term of main car computer
EFI- Electronic Fuel Injection
EGT- Exhaust gas temperature. Used to monitor how lean/rich the engine is.
EVA- Electronic Voice Alert- the system which "speaks" with audio alerts about your car, i.e. if out of gas, will say "out of gas".
EVIC- Electronic Vehical Information Center- the digital overhead console of the AC/AY's.
FWD- Front Wheel Drive
ID- Inside Diameter
LED- Light Emitting Diode- a diode used to emit light, come in red, blue, green, yellow, and many other colors. Used on digital dashes, and many electrical parts.
MAP- Manifold Air Pressure- also referrs to the MAP sensor which monitors the manifold air pressure.
MPI- Multi Port Injection
N/A- Naturally aspired- when the engine sucks in air, as opposed to forced induction like with a turbo or supercharger.
TB- Throttle body.
TBI- Throttle Body Injection
TBPS- Throttle body position sensor
TCM- Tranny Control Moduel- tranny (A604) computer
O2- used as slang for Oxygen sensor
OD- Outside Diameter
OEM- Original Equipment Manufactorer. Basically used to describe parts installed by the factory- i.e. the OEM airbox system is restrictive compared to the K&N airfilter....
PCB- Printed Circuit Board
PCM- Powertrain Computer Moduel- basically the main car computer.
