Guide to EEK dash clusters, swaps, etc

Ok, these cars have used alot of varrious dash clusters of different sizes, styles, etc. I do not believe there is any complete online source which details all the EEK clusters that have been produced. Such a list, can be used by the custom EEK car-maker for figuring out what off-the shelf parts are out there, what can be easily used in your car, and which can be altered to perhaps work in your car.

I have worked with this type of a project before, as I did install a 1992 Imperial Digital dash in my Dynasty, however after a couple years the cluster died, I was unable to find a replacement, so I had to convert back to the analog cluster.

I have also noticed that some other EEK people have done similar projects, one to note is Rob's Daytona digital dash that he installed in a shadow (offsite link).

Also note: The easiest to swap clusters (from an electrical standpoint) are the ones which do not use a BCM (no databus or CCD bus used), however many of these clusters use a speedo cable which can be hard to adapt onto a newer engine, especially engines like the 3.3/3.8 which never used speedo cables. You must take into consideration how you will handle a cluster that uses a speedo cable if you do not currently use a speedo cable in your cluster.

To do this, I figured the best way would be to group the varrious clusters by the type of car they were installed in. Click on the car type below and you will see the information I have on these clusters. Please note this is not yet a complete database!

Once you find a cluster that has an appearnce you like for your project, you must determine how hard it will be to use it. After you get past the BCM & speedo cable issues that might present themselves, you have to fit it into your dash cavity!

This can be a hard part, especially if you do not want to cut into your dash. If you are skilled enough in working with plastic, plastic paints, etc, it can be possible to modify the dash to make the opening a different size or even shape. Not all EEK's use rectangleular clusters like the Dynasty, a good exception to note is the digital dash in the LeBaron GTC convertiable (which has a round top to the cluster).

If anyone has measurements for this clusters, please let me know- I could also use any clarrification as to which ones use speedo cables, the BCM's data buss, etc.
