3.3 Belt

The 3.3 uses a single belt which drives everything, as seen above. The belt moves clockwise.

There are two main 3.3 belt patterns, the one above and the nonAC version (which isnt common, more common in Europe than in north america). The nonAC version i basically same as above only without the AC compressor, in its place is a pulley and a slightly different sized belt is used (different part #).

I have heard of some people using a smaller belt and not using the AC compressor OR a pulley in its place, it spins the water pump backwards which might shorten the life of the water pump but it appears to be ok for the engine so long the rest of the coolant system is in good shape (no dirt, cloggs, etc).

An other alternative is to get an electric water pump to put on the car, as those usually have a plastic pulley that turns in any direction but does not drive anything. Its easier on the engine since the belt system isnt driving a water pump, and you can run a much smaller belt while not using the AC compressor.

To replace the 3.3's belt you basically release the belt tensioner as mentioned in the diagram at the top of this page. This gives the belt enough slack to come off, and then a new one can slip on.
