Computerized FWD Mopars (preOBID2) have a nice feature, and thats the error code system. When the computer thinks something is broken, it can give you and error code using the check engine light.
This can be helpful in troubleshooting a problem. Some codes are common and can be ignored, some are bad signs to get.
To retreive error codes from the PCM, with the car off, turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position and then off again than on- so that you are basically doing "off" to "on" to "off" to "on" to "off" to "on"
The check engine light will than blink. Count how many times it blinks, than it will pause and start blinking again- count both sets as different numbers- so an error 15 would be "blink" -pause- "blink blink blink blink blink"
Now this many varry a lil from year to year from car to car- but here is a general error code chart
