Trunk Lock Cover

The AC/AYs used a trunk lock cover, basically was a trim piece that covers the lock on the trunk lid- common on alot of 80s/early 90s luxury cars, Buicks, etc- the AC/AYs were no differnt.

The piece is a common target by vandels who want to break a part of a car home as a "trophey" for their work, people are rough with the part and often accidently break them off, and so on.

Usually after its been broken off, the base of the part remains riveted to the trunk lid.

It is fairly easy to replace.

All you have to do is take a drill and drill out those two rivets (one at the top, one at the bottom left corner). With that removed- they will simply prey or fall off.

To get a new one, your best bet is to go to a junk yard- bring a drill with you (hand held mechanical drill if the yard doesnt allow power tools) and remove one by drilling threw the rivets.

Make sure you get one with the same paint color as your car- in the case of the pentistar lock cover, the nonchrome parts were painted to match the car.

Then to install it on your car, you only need to get two screws with the right diameter & thread to be able to secure it to the trunk lid.

Screw it on, and you're done.
